Double standards...

I just came back from the "Arcos de Zapopan", where I had a rather interesting/fun time with Memo, Pollo and Gunther... That's how you spell it right?. G-u-n-t-h-e-r. It's late, and I am tired... And although I am not even a bit drunk, I know I am not 100% sober either... So, let's see how this post turns out.

Right... So. I had several options tonight, the most appealing one pretty much included staying at home and leaning some pointers (C stuff)*. Others were going out with some comunicologos, etc. I decided to go out with Memo and those guys, I have a lot of fun with them, and I hardly ever get to see them. So I did.

... Before that though. We did great in a meeting we had!. I may end up consulting this company and telling them how to do their work. He he he. I hope that works out, it would be good money. Good traveling money!!. And it does seem I will need a lot of that if I want to visit those ice cream shops Luna and Mishka keep talking about. :-P

So I ended up having some very good pizza and wine with Memo and Gunther in a place called Candelas. Now, as much as I did like the conversation I think I spaced out several times. And I bet at least Memo noticed. The joke in turn was about the fact that our golden years were past, and how we were getting old and all. Still, I just started thinking about the place I was in. The people I was with. How nice it was, the music, open roof, the stars, decoration. And that got me thinking: do they have places like this up in Canada?. And even if they do, what about the company?.

... Side note: I felt like a piece of meat, dirty and all. Argh!. I hate guys!. Ha ha ha... Ok, that was a bit sarcastic. But I did feel awkward because there was this table with about 12 guys sitting there. They ranged from ages 28 to 45 I bet. Whatever. All of a sudden one of them stared at me for a while, of course I noticed. Then he started talking to the guy next to him, and now he looked at me too. Two guys. For some reason they talked to the guy in front, and he to the one on his side. I had 4 FREAKING GUYS CHECKING ME OUT!!! (At several times during the night, and they had the full check when I got up and walked away... Argh).... Either I had the worst hair do, or they.... Argh... I don't want to think about it. We have feelings too you know?.

I told my brother about this on the way home and how, if it had been girls, that would have been cool. He he he. Double Standards!!... He yelled at me saying that it was still flattering and all. Whatever, he may be right. Still, why doesn't it happen with girls?.

...

After dinner we went for a walk, meet with Pollo, and headed for a nice bar close by. Again, I was thinking about how nice are all this bars in the open air, with my friends and all, while in Edmonton they now have snow... And my friends are not there. Heh.

We did have a fun talk. I laughed a lot. But my brother was smart enough to point something out. We were talking geeky stuff, rather loud. No wonder why we were all by ourselves. - Sigh -.

....

On the way back, on the car, Victor started talking about how much he wishes we were living in Europe, where girls and guys can invite their girlfriends/boyfriends over to sleep in their beds and parents agree. Then he backed off and said: well, that if I had sons, I would let them... If I had daughters though, I would kill their boyfriends.. Hah!!... I got him back!!... Double standard right there!!!... If you want to be fair, you have to be all the way. Why is it that we latins think like that?.

- Sigh -

Once home, it made sense to log in and write... I hope it does make sense once I read it all tomorrow... He he he.

* Cheers *

* Side note: It really was appealing to stay and learn some stuff, mostly because I am getting worried about having lost my "tech powers", you know?, for the masters and all. Still, I am in that let's do as much "social stuff" as we can stage.

ps. It feels like I have much more to write about it all... But my brain is kind of shutting off. So, those letters will have to wait to be typed.

Zapopan!!! Sorry...got a little excited there. Oh, I miss GDL and my cousins!

Don't worry...sometimes it takes ages to find good places in a foreing city. But after years you start to "settle' and find the wonderful spots that are barely known. But once you're in Canada it will be easier to visit us (i think?) and have all that wonderful icecream that I was not allowed to have yesterday.

Hmmm... Maybe traveling will be easier. I so want to take a nice walk by those streets you talk about, while enjoying that great ice cream... Wow...

And I guess you are right, there are always great hidden spots to have good times. And I know you can always find people with whom you can share those good times.

Our life is a moving train, people come up and down of it all the time. We share spots of the journey with them, but still, the train keeps on moving and a lot of time people take their own lane to their destiny... We should be grateful for the times we share, but never clinging in such a way that will stop our journey, or theirs.

Wise, very wise words. Some people come and go, some people stay.
Side comment: Mishka, that ice cream is awesome! It is the chunkiest/yummiest thing! (is yummiest a word?!) Oh, the pecans and the almonds!

Hector, you have to try it! Anyway, I"m a little drunk so I should head to bed...three "hot toddies" (plus generous helpings of wine) = dangerous! BTW, excuse my spelling. Cant' see.

No no no!!! You guys are stepping out of the main topic here... forget philosophy, life changing thoughts and short poems about life.

The main, and most important topic here is:
Why when a group of womanless men get together they start to gay things up?

hector said...

He he he.. it does seem you had a good time!!...

Isn't it very funny?... "Drunken writting"... I have done it a couple of times. The amount of effort you place it trying to type correctly and all... He he he.

side note: I will get obsessed about that ice cream now.

Angie said...

Ok, yeah I admit it, we did change the topic. And to tell you the truth, I have no idea of why that happens.

Sometimes it happens even if there are women! I went out dancing once with two male friends, and two gay men approached us, told one of my friends "loose the girl and come with us". I felt so insulted I was ready to drive my stiletto heels through their eye sockets. Female pride...

But you know? maybe girls are checking you guys out too...but you guys just don't notice. We do have our ways of doing that.

hector said...

Ha ha ha ha, as scary as that is, it makes sense. We guys have a reputation of being obvious when we do that, and I don't see why gays would be better at it.

I have been told, once it is pointless, that some girl was "looking" like that. I am stupid, I never notice... - sigh -

The worst part is that, during the Con this past weekend, the only one person that wanted me to sign some "private" part was a dude. Argh... Of course, I didn't. Girls should be as blunt though!... He he he.

Hector, do you not know girls at all?? we check guys out ALL the time, and im pretty sure luna will back me up on this one just like guys check girls out and make it rather obvious, girls do it as well but we are rather "sneaky" about it and we dont always have to let everyone around know. and even though not many will admit to this, i do it with girls as well something like " ok, now her breast are waaaay to perky/perfect or i wonder what kind of excercise she does to get an ass like that". about the whole guys checking you out, well just like you guys are very obvious when checking out a girl, its the same when they are checking out another guy. Por lo menos tienes "pegue" y de eso no te puedes quejar!

alright luna, you finally tried the icecream, i told you, the best! and yummiest has got to be the perfect word for that icecream even if it isnt a word! glad you enjoyed it, now if we could only mail Hector some of it....is that even possible?

Ha ha ha ha...

"Hector, do you not know girls at all??"...

Please, remind me to show you one day a book I have about what we men know about girls. It really is great. You see the cover and it sais: "What men know about women". On the back, there is this list about: "how to understand them, how to seduce them, how to please them, how to... etc".

It really called my attention when I saw it among several other books that my dad has in his psichology shelf. I took it, saw the front, the back, and with expectation and flipped through it...

All the pages are blank...ALL... nothing is written... Several hundred pages, nicely put together, are blank.

Of course... we know nothing...

He he he...

Mishka: true. I always leave my friends puzzled because when I really like someone no one ever knows -not even my best friend- until I am sure that I'm going to go and ask the guy or give him hints that he can ask me out.

And true also on the "perky breasts, etc.." my guy friends like to take me out because I do join them in "criticizing" a girl they want to ask to dance. And hey, it's a great way to find out how the male brain works!

Regarding the ice cream...checking out if it's possible to ship it to him...oh, the pecans and almonds with chocolate...yuuum!!!

That book thing, awsome, perfect, couldnt of said it better myself! hehehe!

luna, i think it is possible because now that i think about it, my aunt had some steaks delivered at some point and they were frozen so i imagine you can but would it be regular mail?

*Mishka*

Angie said...

Hector: Yeah!! I've seen that book. We got it for a friend of ours on his birthday! We (the girls) filled it in with personal hints.

Mishka: It seems that we could. We would need to ship it via FecEx and on Dry Ice...hmmm...

hector said...

Seems like a lot work there. And expensive!!!...
Don't worry girls, that is just another reason for me to want to fly up there sometime!!... Maybe I will bump into you in the ice cream shop... He he he... :-P

- Sigh - I appreciate your concern though.

Angie said...

Well, not really that much work.
But yeah, good reason to come and visit. :-)

And if you ever would bump into me in the ice cream shop, I would be the one pouring espresso over the ice cream...affogato, how I love thee!

Hey, luna, maybe if we keep on talking about it, Hector will really be tempted to dash to the US just for some icecream and starbucks coffee and once on this side, we will keep him hostage mmuuuhahahahah (evil laugh and rubbing hands together)
*side note: if i sound strange, it's because my caffeine system has too much blood in it* :-)

*Mishka*

You know, I am already thinking about doing it. He he he, going over there some time. Maybe if I go next year to Canada I can stop by there a couple of days. Actually, that does sound good. When the time gets near, we should figure something out.

Coffee and ice cream... hmmmmm mmmmm... ice cream and coke... wow... Most of the pleasures in life are sugary...

Angie said...

Mishka: Maybe it could work, let's keep trying. :-) BTW, nice caffeine system. Mine is purely glucose (I usually put coffee on my sugar)

Hector, if you came here, you could take pictures with the Liberty bell that everyone loves to go and see.

Ah, yeah, don't forget the other pleasures -dark- chocolate and pastries; tarts, cakes, strawberry shortcakes, pies, sweet breads...

Hmm...now i'm starting to get hungry for steak. Hector, and you though your mind was messed up! :-)

hector said...

He he he he... You do seem to have a weird way to associate ideas. I got lost there!, How did we get to steak?... :-D

I guess we are all messed up... A relief, we are not that lonely after all.

Angie said...

I love sweets and I love a good medium rare steak with fries and a michelada (sin paprika!!!) on the side...so i guess the connection was easy for me.

But I admit I have weird ways of connecting stuff together. I always leave the people at work guessing, without even wanting to.

Some day i'll figure myself out.
